                                               Wh questions + verb to be

These question words are used to ask for specific information.

Goal: Learn the use of the wh - questions with the verb to be in simple present.

Objetivo: Aprender el uso de las “Wh . questions” en el tiempo presente simple.

 Let’s see the wh- questions:

1.    What – Qué, Cuál ⮕ It´s used to ask for a person’s or object’s information.
     
2.    Who – Quién  It´s used to ask for a person.

3.    When – Cuándo  It’s used to ask for a specific time

4.    Where – Dónde ⮕ It’s used to ask for a place or a location.

5.    Why – Por qué  It’s used to ask for a reason of a situation.

6.    Which – Cuál ⮕ It expresses elections or comparisons at the moment to ask.

7.    How – Cómo  It’s used to ask for the condition or a  state  of a person, object or animal.  It also expresses a way, a form. This wh-question can be followed by an adjective or an adverb. For instance: How old, How long, How often.

     Wh – question + verb to be

Making questions with these words is very simple. Just follow the structure and practice these wh – questions all time you need.

The structure is:

Wh – question       +        verb to be       +    complement
      Who                                are                              you?   (Quién eres tu)
      What                               is                                this?    (Qué es esto)
       Where                             is             the              party?  (Dónde es la fiesta?
       How                              are                                you?  (cómo estas?

Reading Comprension  and wh – questions

Skimming is a strong reading technique to catch the details in a text. It’s a reading comprehension strategy which you focus in a specific or part of the text. You move your eyes quickly in order to find the information you are looking for or you are interested. Just shoot to the target words.

Eating cholado in Jamundi, a sweet experience you’ll never forget

Hundreds of people come to Jamundi every single weekend to have one of the most delicious and sweetest experience in the world: eat a big Cholado.  You may consider this like an ice cream. Other people say that it’s a salad fruit with ice. The truth is, this delicious and sweet shaved and fruit product, is considered like a touristic attraction in Jamundi, a town near to Cali, Colombia. 



Cholado is made of shaved ice with different syrups flavors especially blackberry and pieces of tropical fruits like kiwi, pineapple, mango, papaya, banana, strawberry, apples and grapes. Condensed milk is added to this colorful recipe with a wafer cookie if you want.
Then, you can enjoy it with a great companion while you listen a salsa song or see the life’s monument. 

Many families of Jamundi work in the cholado’s industry. They have their stands in a special place named “Cholado’s Park” (El parquet del Cholado). In this place you can find different kinds and sizes of Cholados. Also, you can drink a delicious fruit juice, or taste a cold “Lulada” which is a shaved ice with Lulo juice, lemon and condensed milk. Some people with hangover symptoms (an unpleasant state after drinking alcohol) go to “Cholados Park” to have a special drink named “Mataguayabo”.  They say after drinking “Mataguayabo” you don’t feel hangover anymore. When did this begin? The history of the Cholado in Jamundi started with the Bonillas Family. It is said that was Doña Rosina, mother of Hector Bonilla, who started preparing and selling small ice blocks with lemon and honey. Later, Hector added a special syrup and fruits which is very similar to nowadays Cholado. But Bonilla family is not the only one who depends
economically of Cholado’s industry. Some families of Jamundi work in this industry. They work every day. In the morning they organize their stands with all the ingredients. When the day is very sunny and hot, the customers start to arrive and buy the products. On weekends, you can see many people from everywhere who come to Jamundi attracted by Cholados. On July 20th 2012, Cholado’s stands owners of Jamundi met together to produce the biggest Cholado in the history with the idea to appear in the Guinness Records. It was a great event. 

So if you want to have a delicious and sweet experience, don’t doubt, just come to Jamundi.
